Les Deux Alpes sits at the top of the Romanche valley and centres on the Jandri Express, which whisks skiers up to the 3,600m glacier in 20 minutes. The glacier enables skiing from July to September in the summer season, making it popular with training camps and powder enthusiasts. In winter the 200km of pistes cover excellent intermediate terrain and the snowpark at the top is one of the best in Europe.

The village layout is awkward — one long street with lifts at both ends — so choose your accommodation carefully based on which lift sector you want to be near. The Glacier end is quicker to the glacier (obviously), but the village end has better après.
