Prague
Czech Republic

Europe's most perfectly preserved baroque city — and the cheapest excellent beer on the continent.

Europe · Czech Republic

Why visit Prague?

Prague is the most architecturally intact city in Europe — largely undamaged by World War II, the Old Town is a concentrated collection of Gothic, Baroque and Art Nouveau buildings around a medieval astronomical clock. Walking Charles Bridge at 6am, the castle lit above the Vltava — it is one of the great European city experiences.

It is busy in summer, but Prague handles it better than most. Come in November for Christmas markets setting up, or January for the best prices and completely empty castle corridors.

Who It's Perfect For
🏰

Architecture Lovers

Gothic churches, Baroque palaces, Art Nouveau buildings and the Cubist architecture unique to Prague — more variety per square kilometre than almost any city.

🍺

Beer Culture

Czech beer is the best and cheapest in Europe. Pilsner Urquell was invented here. The local pub (hospoda) is a cultural institution.

🎵

Music & Culture

The Prague Spring Festival, the State Opera and a live music scene that punches well above its city-size weight.
