South America's largest ski resort. Dramatic Patagonian scenery, 110km of pistes, and the most famous alpine-style town in Argentina.
Cerro Catedral is the biggest ski resort in South America, sitting above the Swiss-style town of Bariloche on the shores of Nahuel Huapi Lake. The resort takes its name from the cathedral-like rock spires that emerge from the mountain, which make for extraordinary scenery. The skiing is excellent for all levels and the town of Bariloche is a destination in itself — Swiss-style architecture, chocolate shops, craft beer and extraordinary lake views.
Per person per night — prices vary by season and booking lead time.
Argentine beef is the real highlight — book at Cassis restaurant in Bariloche for the best parilla (grill) in the area. July in Bariloche is a busy Argentine school holiday period; go in August or September for quieter slopes and still excellent conditions.
