Grandvalira is the entire ski area of Andorra — the tiny duty-free principality squeezed between France and Spain. The skiing covers 210km across six sectors and genuinely works for all levels, the snow record is better than its Pyrenean location might suggest (altitude helps), and everything is duty-free — ski hire, alcohol, tobacco, electronics. It doesn't compete with the Alps on raw terrain quality but for budget-friendly accessible skiing it's outstanding.

Fly into Barcelona and take the direct ski bus — there are several operators running daily coaches to Andorra for around £30 return. Far better than renting a car for the mountain roads. And yes, fill a bag with cheap booze for the journey home.
