Why ski Cairngorm Mountain?

Cairngorm Mountain skiing is an experience that defies conventional review. When conditions are right — a hard overnight frost, clear skies, fresh snow — it can be genuinely excellent. When conditions aren't right (which is more common) it can be horizontal rain, closed lifts and a long drive for nothing. But the people who love it love it passionately, Aviemore is a real community rather than a resort, and there's something genuinely unique about skiing on the subarctic plateau of the highest land in the UK.

Don't book non-refundable accommodation more than a week in advance — conditions are simply too unpredictable. The Aviemore ski charter train from London doesn't exist anymore but direct flights to Inverness from London are cheap and regular. Check the SAIS avalanche forecast the night before.
