Why ski Portillo?

Portillo is genuinely unique — the entire resort is one hotel (the iconic yellow Hotel Portillo) set beside a frozen Andean lake at 2,880m altitude. Professional ski racing teams from across the world use it for off-season training due to the consistent high-altitude snow. The terrain is serious, the scenery extraordinary (the Laguna del Inca below the resort is a brilliant blue even in winter), and the atmosphere is unlike any ski resort anywhere else.
