Saas-Fee is one of the most beautiful settings in all of alpine skiing — a compact, car-free village ringed by 13 peaks above 4,000m, dominated by the Fee Glacier. The skiing is high, snow-sure and perfectly suited to intermediates, with the Metro Alpin funicular ascending to 3,500m for year-round glacier skiing. What it lacks in raw size it compensates for in atmosphere and reliability.

Saas-Fee is smaller than its reputation suggests — a serious skier can cover the whole mountain in two days. Come for three nights, ski hard, then use the extra day for a snowshoe tour or ice climbing introduction.
